Rajvosa

Rajvosa

The project Kulturno Obavještavanje – Rajvosa is aimed at people who speak Bosnian language.

Its principal objective is to provide information on cultural and other events produced in mother tongue in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina which guest-tour in Slovenia. The fact is that we lack information – we shall not discuss the reasons at this point – and the idea of the Rajvosa project was to stimulate people to attend cultural events produced in their native language.

The project is coordinated by Ruža Mlač.

Presentation of Bosnian-Turkish Dictionary from 1631

Presentation of Bosnian-Turkish Dictionary from 1631

On 9th of May 2013 in place of Slovenian Writers' Association in Ljubljana, promotion of an important work of the Bosnian cultural and historical heritage was organised. We presented Bosnian - Turkish dictionary which was written in 1631 by Muhamed Heva Uskufi. It is a transcript of the oldest South Slavic “štokavski” dialect dictionary, also one of the oldest dictionaries in the Balkan area and the first Bosnian dictionary ever written. Dictionary bears witness to the foundations, history and continuity of the existence of the Bosnian language.
Dictionary was published in 2011. Municipality of Tuzla and the Ministry of Education in BiH with its publishing celebrated 380 anniversary of the record of this dictionary.
Bosnian - Turkish dictionary is important not only as a document of a time and place that speaks of the continuity of existence of the Bosnian language, but is especially very important for Slavic studies across Europe. Uskufi's dictionary delivers 800 indigenous and authentic words and is definitely one of the most important works in Bosnian language. The dictionary is written in verse, because culture of writing in the period of its creation didn't distinguish between work of art and didacting. The initial usable value of the dictionary in the present is no longer topical, today this work is primarily philological fact and artifact. However, in the place of the Slovenian Writers Association students of the Department of Slavic Studies at the Faculty of Arts under the mentorship of professor dr. Đurđa Strsoglavec presented us how Bosnian Turkish Dictionary can be used even today.
